Eclectic magazine

Brief:

For this project, I created an interior design magazine for designers (and DIY-ers) who want inspiration for a different style than the all-white trend. I love bold and bright colors and vintage design, so I wanted to incorporate those elements into this project.

Process:

One of the challenges of design is creating something new and exciting while keeping elements that people relate to. My goal for this project was to create a unique and modern interior design magazine concept by creating a magazine for those who don’t want to use white. (what!) Of course I needed to find some “articles” to include in this magazine, and two interior design legends that I immediately thought of (who are killing it in the crazy eclectic color game) are Meta Coleman and the husband-and-wife duo, The Chris and Claude Co. Along with an interview with Meta and a blog article about one of the houses C&C renovated, I featured an article about 2020 color trends from the major paint companies, an Airbnb highlight, tips & tricks for an easy move, and (of course) how to have a good thrift haul.

Concept:

Now, along with a no-white-paint-allowed interior design magazine, I wanted to push the limits on what is acceptable in design. The magazine is, after all, named Eclectic. One of the colors designers shy away from in design is pink. Because of this, I decided to make a deep pink my main color, and accented with other “funky” colors to prove that color doesn’t have to be scary in design (or on your walls). My goal for this project was to create a bold and fun magazine that highlights unique styles of interior design.
