Horticulture Holiday Card

Brief:

I created a holiday card for the ISU Horticulture Center. Being focused on agriculture and plants, I needed to represent that aspect of the Center in the card, as well as their theme for 2020, “Sounds of the Center”.

Concept:

Holiday cards tend to all look the same after awhile, so I wanted to branch out and try a different subject. I illustrated a magical snowglobe with snowmen inside, caroling to the tune of Jingle Bells. (At least, you’re supposed to imagine that they are). The globe is framed by a draping of garlands and festive ribbon, and the whole thing is blanketed in a calming dark blue to really represent a winters night. I chose a more muted color palette to pair with the traditional holiday color scheme to further bring a warm feeling to the card.
