Brief:

I was privileged to intern with the Normal Public Library as a Graphic Designer, and assisted in creating visual materials for general branding, social media, event promotion, marketing, and other areas. This position balanced creative thinking with a basic understanding of marketing and brand management as well as gave me an opportunity to participate in a community-based organization. I created promotional graphics and flyers for upcoming events for the library, assisted in implementing the Summer reading theme across a range of materials, aided in completing the summer activity guide, and maintained their established visual appearance, usability and brand continuity. Y’all, I love reading (just ask my mother), so this internship was so much fun. NPL has an amazing brand identity already established and I learned so much from getting to work alongside their graphic designer to create collateral for them.

Process:

Throughout this internship I was able to gain experience with expanding and maintaining the NPL brand identity through creating digital and print flyers. I developed a theme and illustrated said theme for the cover their summer activity guide, FB profile photo, and FB banner. I was also able to create a podcast cover for them.

Normal Public Library has their own podcast; these are some sketches I made in the creation of a new podcast cover (pictured above).

Sketches for the NPL Spring Activity Guide cover. This needed to involve something with reading and spring activities.
